Selected Bible: New Living Translation

Daniel 3:16-18

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. 18 But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”

Narrative:

As we navigate The Church, The Pandemic, and Us; we embark on the holiday season. A season of Thanksgiving and The Season of Light! We are still in a war with Covid 19, but we have completed the Quadrennial elections for 2020. We have endured so much. We have buried many loved ones,we have adjusted to being at home most of the time, and we have adopted to virtual learning, worship, and meetings.

The time has come now to Enjoy GOD! One cannot Enjoy GOD and worry at the same time, that is an oxymoron. An oxymoron is a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction.1 If you can read this narrative, you have obviously made some headway in understanding GOD’S DELIVERANCE!

Today’s Lesson is your GODLY BOOST. This BOOST is initiated in the Hebrew Text of Daniel! Daniel had been taken captive and deported to Babaylon by King Nebuchadnezzar six hundred and five years before CHRIST. I must note however, that the deportation was because of the disobedience of his countrymen called Judah.

Moreover, this GODLY BOOST is in reference to three key characters in this sixth century discourse, namely Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Their contribution to all of us,is they did not worry. In spite of deadly odds they trusted GOD. In short, these three Hebrew Men were adamant about not bowing down to a ninety feet high and nine feet wide image. King Nebuchadnezzar’s directive was very simple, everybody had to stop and bow down to the image when they heard the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipes and all kinds of music. Failure to not bow was punishable by being thrown into a fiery furnace. Consequently, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego said they would absolutely not bow down. In fact they told the King, “GOD WILL SAVE US” the Hebrew Men went on to say that even if GOD DOES NOT Save Us they would not bow down. There is your BOOST! When facing the unpredictable future of life, if you Serve GOD don’t worry about the consequences! Enjoy GOD Let’s Stop Worrying !
